Happy wedding Wednesday, Friends. Tomorrow I will be posting a little bit about a trend that the pandemic has sent our way: smaller, more intimate marriages that the industry has coined a “minimony.” And, spoiler alert — I’m totally in love. ❤️
Dayle & Michael’s Knoxville Family Farm Wedding
We were racing the rain. We won. And this sweet couple’s day was celebrated perfectly.
I’ve known Dayle since we were in second grade, I think. We went to school and church together, and our parents were besties for years. So you can imagine how excited I was to be asked to photograph this special person’s wedding day. I had not been to her farm in, oh, maybe 35 years? So this shoot had so much extra fun and excitement attached to it. I arrived and found Dayle and her parents hiding in the barn waiting the start of the festivities. Michael, his son, and Dayle’s sister were making final preparations as the family guests arrived.
They placed each guest to form the shape of a heart in a small area mowed down for the ceremony and, well, it all began. Surrounded by family and situated on the bride’s generational family farm, Dayle, Michael, and their son became a family. It was quiet. It was peaceful. It was so intimate. I was in love with every moment.

After the ceremony, we spent lots of time with portraits. Family portraits, couple’s portraits…Then, we scooted off to Calhoun’s for a family dinner and wedding cake.
So grateful for these very private moments. And grateful for these special friends.
