As a new photographer, I did what most of us do. I jumped in, willing to photograph just about anything for just about any amount of money. It ran me ragged, wore me out, and kept me crazy busy. Would I do it again? Absolutely!!
I oftentimes hear the recommendation from established photographers to narrow down your scope, price your work at higher rates, etc, etc. And, there is room for that… later. But, if you’re just starting out or don’t feel your direction yet, allow yourself to go crazy. Shoot it all. Be willing to jump in. And, do it for the experience and sake of learning.
These moments gave me the room to explore different types of photography, learn to organize, and work with different personalities. These experiences allowed me to fail and taught me what was needed to succeed.
Put in the hours. Donate your time. Go crazy. It will be worth it. ✨
