The Boudoir Process | Boudoir Studio, Williamsburg

Hey friends and Happy Monday!
I have spent sometime over the past couple of months researching and looking for a photographer to take my personal boudoir pictures.  And, I’m telling you- It is a challenging process.

My experience has lead me to write this little boudoir blog post on the process here at The Queen and The Key.  Simple is SOOOO important.  But, I also believe that with this particular genre of photography one cannot over simplify.  There is no client that is ever the same as another.  Therefore, no planning or experience should be exactly the same.
I’m here to hold your hand through the process if you want it.  And, here to help plan your dream session no matter what.

So, this is how I roll here at The Queen and The Key.

1.  You’ve Made Contact, now YOU are the Queen

This jump takes a lot of gumption.  And, I want you to know that I know that.  You’ve looked and looked on Insta and Facebook, you’ve Googled searched every key word you can think of.  You’ve asked those few special girlfriends in your life for opinions.  And, here you are.  You make the first contact.  From here forward- YOU are the QUEEN.

When you first reach out to me, I need to know if you’re planning to gift these images, if we are on a timeframe, and if you are interested in any print products.  From there, I will send over suggested Boudoir Photography Collections, available dates, and any add-on options that may suite what you are looking for.  If you have any other upfront questions, I’m happy to knock those out in this email as well.

2.  Confirmation, We All Need That

After you feel like all your questions are answered and you are ready to get in my books, we will decide on a date and I will send you a formal booking proposal with contract.  You will read and sign the details, pay the retainer, and you will be officially in The Queen and the Key Calendar.  Yessss….

3.  Initial Consultation, Let’s Design Your Set

Within the week of your formal booking we will hold our first consultation.  In The Queen and The Key Studio we have many, many options.  We can create a themed Boudoir session such as 60’s Vintage or Leather and Lace.  Or, we can choose to stick to my traditional setting.  You may also want to hold your session at a farm, wildflower field, waterfall, your own home, or with your hubby’s Harley.  Whatever your vision, this is the time that we will spend creating and cultivating something magic.  This consultation will be held over the phone and should be about 30 minutes long.

4.  Call Backs, Second Consultation

Toward the end of our first call, I will suggest that you take a few moments to review the items in my client closet and add on items such as Angel Wings.  Our second call is to chat through outfit selection, what you will bring and what I will provide.  This is the perfect time to discuss colors, body image, and anything special that you have in mind with respect to clothing, lack thereof, jewelry, heels, and props.  After this phone call, we will have a pretty amazing picture of what we are putting together for you.

5.  Your Boudoir Photography Session

All of my sessions start with Hair and Make-up.  You will meet with my amazing hair and make-up professionals for a quick discussion on what we are after for the day, then you get to relax over a mimosa as they prepare your amazingness for pictures.
After hair and make-up is complete, we will work for about an hour through the different pieces of clothing that we have prepared.  It is fun, exciting, and always full of laughs.

6.  Your Images + Products

The second most exciting part about the experience is receiving your images.  About 4 weeks after your session you will receive your digital files for preview via online gallery link.
If your Collection includes digital images, you will have access to download, save, and use your images, from this gallery.
If your Collection includes a Boudoir Album or Prints, you will select your favorite images from this gallery and I will use those images to design your products.
Albums and Prints can be shipped directly to you.  Or, they can be shipped to me and picked up at an agreed upon time.  Albums and Prints take about one week from the time they are ordered to arrive.

7.  Gifting Your Beautiful Work

Not everyone that participates in a Boudoir Photography Session gifts their images to someone else.  Sometimes, the gift is for themselves!  Regardless of whom is receiving your gorgeous album or prints GIFTING is the very best part!  I always suggest taking video or pictures of your self or your partner as they open and look through your album or prints.  It is always, always one of the best moments to look back on down the road.

The process is simple.  But, it is also thought through.  As always, I’m standing by to answer questions and help create your vision.   I love this work and cannot wait to meet you!
