Hello, photography peeps!
Last week I posted about jumping in, photographing anything and everything, and donating your time to grow your skillset and help drive your photography direction. And when you’re new to this industry, that is the way to go.
But today I want to look a year down the road… and at every year after that. With every season of life and as your skillset and photography grow, it will be imperative that you evaluate your direction and your goals.
You know that old saying, “You can do anything, but not everything”? This is the perfect example. Once you have taken on the world of photography and anything a new client will throw at you, you will find that you gravitate to certain pieces of the industry more than others. Or, better put, one or two areas of expertise may gravitate to you! There will be more confidence, joy, and success in some areas than others.
Allowing yourself to narrow your scope and focus where all of the good energy is coming from will build a stronger, clearer brand — and a business that succeeds.
I use January and February every year to take a step back and redirect. For me, weddings, engagements, and boudoir are my dig. That’s been a 15-year development. 🥂 What’s calling you?
