Hi there, everyone!! Wow! I’m a SO grateful for each of you that took the time a couple of weeks ago to send me topics for Tuesday Tip. You must be planning some super awesome, detailed weddings! Keep sending those questions and I will do my best to get them answered. ❤️ I’m here fo you, babe!
A great question that got asked by Asheville Bride 2020, Hillary: I want my girls taken care of the morning of my wedding and my Aunt has offered to provide our Bridal Suite with food and drinks for the Getting Ready part of my Wedding Day. I’ve read some horror stories 😩 What are the best types of foods to have on hand?
Oh my gosh! Great question! And, super awesome that your Aunt has offered to take this to-do off of your wedding day plate. (Pun sort of intended! Ha!)
There are definitely some serious guidelines for food and drink on the wedding day for both sides of the bridal party. And, having experienced some of those “horror stories” you mentioned in your question, I feel pretty passionate about sticking to them! While a large spread of yummy foods may sound tempting as you plan your wedding day, a more simple approach tends to do better on the morning of that special day.
“The Getting Ready on Your Wedding Day Food Rules:”
- Keep It Simple. For most of us, our Wedding Day is not only so, super-duper exciting. It is also a little nerve racking. For the couples finding themselves a little anxious about the day, simple foods are the best way to go.
- Water, Water, Water: This is particularly important if you are getting married in the hotter months of the year. I get it, girls! I realize that you do not want to be running to the potty and hiking-up that wedding dress over- and -over again throughout your day. But, what’s worse? Getting sick? Passing out? Not being able to enjoy your most important day? Yes…all of that. So… Drink Water.
- Keep Close Count on the Alcohol: Yea. I sound like an old lady, here. But, let’s talk real for a quick second. I’ve seen it happen too many times- sick bridesmaids, out-of-control groomsmen, brides that could hardly make it down the aisle. gasp! Yes! It really is true. Champagne is Awesome!! And, it helps create some super fun photography moments with your favorite gals. But, keep it to a minimum until after the Ceremony. Then…Well, the Party is Yours!
- Fruit Trays: Fruit and Veggie trays are a staple in most getting ready suites. These tasty morsels of nature paired with dipping sauces are perfect for all ages and most dietary needs. But, food for thought:: Stick with Fruits and Veggies that are Less Likely to Stain. For example, broccoli, grapes, cucumber, banana, kiwi, apple, snap peas, and cauliflower. We all love those beautiful berries, juicy cherry tomatoes, and tasty orange slices. But, your wedding gown and bridesmaid’s dresses will thank you for waiting until after the Ceremony to enjoy them.
- Yogurt and Granola: The make up of this more protein and fiber focused combo will help you feel more satisfied throughout your day. It is easy to make ahead of time and simple to transport. Win, win, win!
- Other awesome wedding day finger foods: Salted Nuts, Air-Popped Popcorn, Crackers & Cheese, Simple Deli Rolls, Muffins, and Peppermints
Thank you, again, for sending over some great questions! I’m excited to tackle these each Tuesday here on the blog, Tuesday Tips! And, if you haven’t joined me already- find these tips on my IG and FB stories, straight from my crazy mouth. 😁 Happy Planning!
Until Next Time~
