Hi friends! I can’t tell you how excited it has made me to see so many of you show an interest in the world of boudoir photography. Now more than ever, I believe we need to be uplifting one another and empowering the fierce women that we are.
There are so many options in the “cover-up” department. Robes. Gowns, full-on dresses! The list is endless.
Ready for some gorgeous images of yourself, but not down with lingerie? Cool. We’ve got this!
Each woman should be celebrated in her own way. It might not be in your comfort zone to wear lingerie, or it may simply not be your style. However, this preference in no way means that their boudoir images need to be anything shy of beautiful and sexy.
Take the following cover-up ideas. They have a magical ability to provide a sense of modesty and elevate a sultry photo simultaneously. I love it so much! And I love helping my boudoir clients style outfits in this way. The result is often a completely comfortable — and absolutely stunning — human genuinely excited to capture their beauty with my camera lens.
White Button-Down Shirt
Such a classic! Be it your white shirt or that of your partner, you can play with a button-down in so many ways. Roll the sleeves up, pop the collar, leave buttons undone for a suggestive peek at what’s underneath… seriously, the options are endless. What’s more, most everyone has one in their wardrobe, so you won’t have to blow your budget on a boudoir-specific outfit.
Tailored Blazer
A well-fitting blazer can go from business professional to super sexy in seconds. Pair it with a pair of lace undies, your favorite high heels, and a statement necklace, and you have a boss boudoir ensemble on your hands! The sharpness of a blazer also lends itself well to black-and-white photography, so if that’s your vibe, bring one in your bag to your shoot.
Denim Jacket
Who doesn’t love a good jean jacket? It can be styled up or down with ease, it works with nearly every color palette, and it makes your boudoir photographs feel real and down to earth. Wear it just off the shoulders for a little tease, pair it with a lace bralette for some flirty fun, or rock it with a bodysuit for an extra dose of fierceness. Seriously, there’s no wrong way to wear it.
Sports Jersey
If you or your partner are all about a particular team, why not rep them in a few of your boudoir images? The looseness of a jersey makes it automatically comfortable, and it’s so easy to style with a cute pair of panties to elicit all the sexy vibes. Some jerseys come in cropped styles too, which I find particularly fitting for boudoir. They let you show just a little skin while staying true to you.
Leather Jacket
Last but not least, we have leather. It’s tough, it’s luxurious, it’s powerful, and it’s perfect for the boudoir studio. If you have a leather jacket you lean on for date nights, bring it with you for some photo fun! Pairing it with a classic black bra (or even no bra) makes for an instantly sexy image, and it’s ideal for black-and-white photography fans as well.
