Hi friends!
Today I want to dive a little deeper into one of the most common questions my boudoir clients ask: “What should I wear?!” In the past, I’ve shared ideas for ensembles, themed lingerie, and quick-change outfits, but we haven’t focused much on accessories — more specifically, jewelry.
Pieces of jewelry that reflect your style and personality can elevate your boudoir photos in magical ways. Just think about how much “wow factor” your favorite earrings, necklaces, and rings add to date night outfits, and now imagine that same effect with your more intimate attire. Talk about stunning.
Not set on your personal boudoir jewelry style just yet? Here are a few ideas to help your imagination along.
Go Bold
Chandelier earrings, chunky necklaces, and statement rings… so many fun options, so little time! Not to mention, each of these bolder pieces easily ups the fierce factor of your photoshoot. Pro tip: Pick just one of the three so the eye can have an attention-grabbing focal point and then spend minutes gazing at your beautiful self.
Keep Things Dainty
If “go big or go home” isn’t quite your style, consider the opposite approach — a delicate chain with a single pearl or gem, sweet diamond studs, or a stack of skinny gold rings. Subtle accessories can also share space more easily in a single photograph, so you won’t have to pick and choose between your favorite pieces. Rock ‘em all without knocking your images out of balance!
Integrate a Family Heirloom
If you want to give your photos a truly timeless feel or pay homage to a fierce family member who came before you, add a little vintage flair with your favorite heirloom! An old gold locket, your grandfather’s watch, your grandmother’s classic string of pearls… if the jewelry speaks to you personally, it’ll speak volumes in your images as well. Not to mention, these items tend to pair perfectly with anything lace.
Pick Something Sentimental
For those out there who are planning to turn their boudoir shoot into a gift for a special someone, I recommend wearing jewelry they have gifted to you in the past. It could be the first piece they ever gave you, a major anniversary present, or simply their favorite piece of jewelry that you wear. Picking the accessories with your partner in mind makes the photo gift all the more special. Attention to detail is a powerful thing!
Channel Your Inner Queen
Feeling royal? Flaunt it with a sparkly tiara or some stunning gems! These pieces are so fun to work with because you can quite literally see the confidence boost they inspire through the camera lens. Seriously, nothing is more beautiful to me than working with a client who feels empowered to be her true self with me during a boudoir shoot. That is what being a queen is all about.
Which of these jewelry ideas can you see yourself rocking during our boudoir shoot together? Let me know so we can plan the rest of your props to create the perfect vibe!
