Hi friends!
I think it’s about time we discuss a little something called bedroom hair. 😉 You know — that slightly styled, slightly messy, and super sexy hair that so many of you want to pair with carefully curated outfits in your boudoir sessions. There is definitely an art to achieving this coveted look, and every person certainly has their own unique take on it.
The good news is when you sign up for one of my boudoir collections, you automatically gain access to a hairstyling professional who will make you feel fierce and fabulous before we start shooting. No getting-ready stress for you! With that said, it’s still helpful to come prepared so they can help bring your vision to reality.
Save a few photographs.
First things first, take to Pinterest and Instagram and browse boudoir hairstyles to determine what kind of look you want to try for your session. In my experience, it’s helpful to choose a style that can be taken up or down easily for versatility in your photographs. But that is entirely up to you! Find a few images that speak to you, and flag them for your stylist.
Send a selfie.
Ahead of the big day, send a recent picture of yourself with your hair down to your stylist. This sneak peek will give them ample time to think through how they will work with your hair specifically to achieve the look you want (and ensure it lasts throughout the shoot). They might even have a few ideas you didn’t see on social media that are worth testing out!
If you color your hair, schedule a touch-up.
For those of you who rock a faux and fabulous hair color, be sure to schedule time with your go-to professional in the days leading up to your boudoir shoot for a spruce. After all, you want your roots to match the rest of your vibrant strands, and you want any highlights or lowlights to frame your face in the ways they were originally designed. Give your boudoir stylist a canvas that makes you happy!
Have a deep-conditioning night.
The night before your big boudoir day, bring the spa vibes home and do a little deep conditioning treatment on your hair and scalp. It’ll feel luxurious and relaxing, and it’ll ensure perfectly flouncy, shiny locks the following day on camera.
Show up squeaky clean.
Last but not least, give your hair a thorough washing before arriving at the studio so your stylist can work their magic! Yes, dirty hair tends to hold curls better, but the stylist can always dirty your hair up with just the right amount of product to achieve that exact effect.
There you have it — the keys to boudoir-ready bedroom hair! I can’t wait to see your style when we meet in the studio. 🖤
Be Fierce, Friends.
