Williamsburg Boudoir Photographer: Set the Perfect Scene for Your Boudoir Shoot

Hi friends!

For those of you who recently booked a boudoir session, now comes the fun part: designing your shoot! That’s right, you get to do more than hunt for the perfect outfits and grab hair and makeup inspiration from Pinterest. You have a say in the kind of space you use for your session as well. After all, it needs to make you feel comfortable enough to reveal your intimate and empowered self, right?

My new photography studio has SO many options! But if you’re not digging the studio vibe, I have certain spaces that I use most often for my boudoir photoshoots, and I’m always open to new ideas! If we can find access to the space you like, we can work there. In need of a little inspiration when it comes to visualizing your ideal boudoir shoot? Below are some of my favorite set styles to help get you started.

Modern Monochrome

Of course, I will always include photos in black and white, but keeping the backdrop, furniture, and textiles all within the same color scheme in real life gives us a beautiful blank canvas upon which we can work. Not to mention, you can be sure that your set won’t detract from you and the special styles you have selected to wear. A monochrome space will give your images a timeless element, and it can make your poses pop in a dramatic way.

A Luxe Lounge Area

Some boudoir beauties feel inspired by statement furniture pieces because they give them natural spaces in which they can pose and play. A velvet chaise lounge? A bold statement chair? A throw rug that feels more like a blanket? Yes, yes, and yes! There are so many fun vintage pieces available for rent these days, too, so if you have a particular collection in mind, let’s book it and bring it into the studio.

All the Spa Vibes

If you want to play with mirrors, bubbles, and cozy bathrobes, let’s bring the spa to your boudoir shoot! Boutique hotels often provide the easiest access to such sets, but we can also appeal to these senses with a little creativity in my studio space (just sans the clawfoot tub). It’s amazing what you can do with a few extra mirrors and the perfect vanity lighting.

Into the Woods

If the great outdoors is more your style, let’s use that as inspiration! While I might recommend scheduling woodsy sessions for the warmer months of the year, it’s surprisingly easy to find a private little nook of nature for your shoot. And if it’s a slightly cloudy day or we start shooting at dusk, you’re bound to love the light we can capture around you in your favorite outfits.

Any Locale with Lots of Natural Light

Notice a theme in any of the sets above? That’s right, they all provide plenty of ideal lighting! No matter what scene you decide to set for your boudoir photoshoot, the right light is key to capturing the best photograph. Well, light and your amazingly confident self!
