“Keep Smiling…Because, There is So Much to Smile About.”
~Marilyn Monroe

As I begin this wedding blog, I am wondering how many other online posts have begun with the words “2020 has looked a little different.”

It certainly has looked different and for many folks a lot different.  I have had the opportunity to walk with so many amazing couples and families as we process this new environment and continue to make change after change to accommodate it’s fluid nature.  And while all the change is frustrating, angering, and oftentimes downright depressing, I have been uplifted over and over again by the grace and flexibility that human nature can choose to provide.

These 2020 wedding couples are rockstars!  And, I’d like you to meet Cheyenne and Lucas. When I met Cheyenne and Lucas over a year before their wedding day, we could never have foreseen what their journey would look like.  Nor would I ever have known the amount of respect that I would develop for this beautiful couple.  But, life is like that.  ❤️

The 2020 Wedding Hurdles

They were married in May- just as things in our area began to become scary and much more uncertain.  Originally scheduled to be married at a facility that closed their doors last minute, Cheyenne and Lucas were forced to find a venue in short time.  Hurdling obstacle number one with ease, I am ultimately SO grateful the first venue didn’t work out.  Because, man-o-man!  They chose the Capitol Theater in Downtown Maryville and it was AWESOME!!

If you have not explored this super-cool, retro, and unlike-any-other-event-space you are missing out!  The space is fabulous and the team of professionals that make weddings happen at the Capitol are second to none.

Then set-in the ideas of social distancing, masks, and sanitation.  For these two- they took it in stride and created their perfect guest list of family and friends, an AMAZING friend hand-sewed wedding worthy masks for every single guest, and the cutest sanitation table was set-up in the lobby of the theater.  Check.  Check.  Check.

The Wedding Day

I chose the Marilyn Monroe quote above for Cheyenne and Lucas’s wedding day because the idea of finding the things in life that make you smile is a skill.  It is a gift to those whom have honed that ability.  And, these two continued to share that ability and strength over and over again as we approached their wedding day.  They conquered every hurdle that was put in front of them- and, it paid off!  Their gorgeous wedding day was by-far one of the greatest celebrations I have had the opportunity to photograph.  So much love.  So much respect.  So much family.  And…well, so much dancing!!  (And, I LOVE dancing!  😁 )  Marriage is always a working journey.  And, I am 100% certain these two have an incredible love ahead of them.

Thank you for the life lessons shared with me, Cheyenne and Lucas!  And, here is to many, many incredible years! 🥂

With Grit & Grace~
